The author's of "Young Goodman Brown" and "Dream Within a Dream" explains why they similar although they can be different from each other, too. The authors use their ideas of the dreams to make the readers think about what is in the real world. The authors shows how both pieces of their stories can have elements, and those elements can be different.
The evidence that both authors used their ideas to make us think that the main character's dreams are becoming reality, or it's just a dream to the readers. In the story "Young Goodman Brown", Brown decided to followed the devil wherever he goes. The devil decided to go to people's home, and Brown started to recognize them. The people that Brown recognize was people that he looked up to for a long time. This makes the readers think that there is imagery about darkness, or a dark shadow was coming towards the people that Brown admires the most and starts to them become a bad person. In the poem "Dream Within a Dream", the character in the story thinks that their life is just a dream. The syntax is that the character wanted to have their dream become into reality and shows how make time the character want their dream to end. The authors used their stories of their main characters being in a dream, or reality wanted us to think they are actually in a dream.
The evidence that both authors used their pieces in their stories can used as elements, and their elements can be the different. In the story "Young Goodman Brown", shows that Brown keep on chasing after his wife, he keep on yelling his wife's name, and she keep on disappearing every time he takes a step and calls her name. The elements in the characterization and imagery shows Brown wanted to continued dreaming and wanted to be with his wife, or not be away from her. In the poem "Dream Within a Dream", The character in the poem started to get sand. This shows syntax because the sand represents time running out cause little by little sand will fall out at your hands which the character wanted the dream to end. The authors used their pieces became different because one character wanted their dream continuing and the another character wanted to stop their dream.

Response of Dream Within a Dream
My response of "Dream Within a Dream" was that the character thinks that their dreams are coming into the real world. The character thinks that they're in the middle of no where and it started to make the character keep sinking down like the character is trapped.

Response of Young Goodman Brown
My reponse of “Young Goodman Brown”, the story tells a young couple that look happy and the couple that everyone wanted to be, but there was a twist. There was man that went to a forest in the middle of the night. He left his wife and she wanted him to come back home. Then, he started to see someone with a staff. He calls this person the devil. The devil tried to let the man followed him, but he refused and he continued following him. The devil decided to visit other people, the man recognizes them. It looks like the people that he looked up to through his life. The man was still confused, but he kept following the devil. While the man was following the devil, he kept hearing sounds like Indiana people yelling and the man thought it was his imagination. Then, they went to a town and the devil had a meeting with the people in the town. The man seems to know these people and they looked like the same people that is from his town. He also saw his wife at the meeting. He keeps on yelling her name and kept trying to catched up to her, but she kept disappearing and he thinks she didn’t hear him. Later on, he woke up. The his wife greeted him, but he ignored her and he didn’t want to look at her. In the town, people think he was acting strange, but he thinks that he can’t trust them anymore and he thinks that the people can’t be always good. They can be evil.

Was It Only a Dream?
Thoughts:
- His dream causes him not to trust the people that he knows when they going to towards the devil. When he starts to enter the woods, it was starting to become his reality, but it wasn't reality.
- He started question why he woke up in the woods.
- Also, his wife started to with the people going to the devil which turned out to be a meeting with everyone.
- When he was dreaming, the people that he knows starts to go to the devil.
- He mentions seeing Goody Cloyse, but his wife didn't pay attention to him like he wasn't there with her which he mention that they known each other since they were children.
- When Brown falls asleep, or dreams, starts to become like reality which causes fear for him with his wife, family, and friends.

Argument of Young Goodman Brown
Dream:
Reality:
- When Brown falls asleep, or dreams, starts to become like reality which causes fear for him with his wife, family, and friends.
- He mentions seeing Goody Cloyse, but his wife didn't pay attention to him like he wasn't there with her which he mention that they known each other since they were children.
- When he was dreaming, the people that he knows starts to go to the devil.
- Also, his wife started to with the people going to the devil which turned out to be a meeting with everyone.
- He started question why he woke up in the woods.
- When he starts to enter the woods, it was starting to become his reality, but it wasn't reality.
- His dream causes him not to trust the people that he knows when they going to towards the devil.
Reality:
- He is describing the woods that it is creepy to most people, trees can also look like witches, and the woods can also have creepy sounds during the nighttime, too. This causes confusion to Brown that if he is in reality.
- When he says that "there may be a devilish Indian behind every tree" which means that someone can be watching, or stalking him which cause him to have the feeling of fear and anxiety which makes him think it's reality.
- When he was talking about the staff, it's shows his viewpoint that he is not certain if the staff is Goody Cloyse, or not.
- I think it was reality because he starts to feel guilty about something.
- He mentions that the devil was like his father and grandfather and she was also worried about Brown leaving their home.
- When he wakes up from his dreams, he started to act strange and looks at they more angry which makes him people who they are which makes aren't they seem they are.

Response for Young Goodman Brown
For my response about "Young Goodman Brown", it shows that Goodman Brown has died in a young age because he was started to have depression which cause him died with a pale face. Goodman Brown should have live on with life because he should experience as father when he taking care of his children. He also get to see his own children grow up as adults and have children so he can become a grandfather.
The Week in Review
I learned in class that tone was the author's feelings. In class, I also learned that description in stories is has syntax has the language that is used, diction has commas and periods, characterization shows what the character in the story is like, imagery explains what the characters are feelings, or shows what is happening in the story, and figurative language has simile and metaphor.

He has evidence how he wanted to experience to no one else can stop him from what he wants to do. "And then it happened .. a door to a world... rushing through the phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse is sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought... a board is found.; ''This is it... this is where I belong..," (Paragraph 5 and 6). The Mentor shows that he experience that he thinks that he belong to this new world that makes him feels right. "You bet your ass we're all alike... we've been spoon-fed food at school when we hungered for steak... the bits of meat that you did let slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We've dominated by sadists, or ignored by the pathetic... We exist without skin color, without nationally, without religious bias.. and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it's for own good, yet we're the criminals," (Paragraph 7 and 8). In his thoughts, other people treated other people different, but in the end, everyone will always be treated the same way.
