Allusion: author telling us something that we should know
Protagonist: the hero in the story
Antagonist: the villain in the story
Static Character: stays the same throughout the story
Dynamic Character: changes throughout the story
Plot: sequence of the events in a story
Exposition: the part of plot that provide the background of the story
Setting: where and when the story takes place
Inciting Incident: the event take kicks off the rising action.
Rising Action: increasing the tension
Climax: part of the plot with the most tension
Falling Action: the part of the plot where questions are answer
Resolution and Denouement: the end of the plot where everything is explain
Theme: the central message
Tone: the author's attitude towards the subject, audience, or characters
Mood: the way the reader feels
Foreshadowing: the author gives clues in the story that will happen later on in the story.
Flashback: the past from the timeline
Diction: which the words the author chooses
Syntax: they words the author puts together
